1/2 Dollar    (sold for $1000.0)

1940-S. PCGS graded MS-66+. CAC Approved. Lovely blue and lilac toning over the obverse, the reverse is brilliant. The satin-like luster is almost unimpaired by abrasions of any size on this pristine specimen from the San Francisco mint. The strike is crisp in most areas, as well, though some lack of detail may be noted at Liberty's hand and on the eagle's leg, both being centered at the highpoints of the design where the results of striking often fail to show completely. Very scarce in this high grade. Pop 36; 11 finer, 9 in 67, 2 in 67+ (PCGS # 6610) . Estimated Value $1,100 - 1,200. Categories: Walking Liberty Half Dollars
